Iowa qualifying: Both laps have real meaning
Iowa Speedway |
IndyCar Qualifying Friday for the Iowa Twin 250s at Iowa Speedway take on special meaning this time around.
The drivers will get their usual 2 laps of official qualifying, but this time a drivers first lap speed will determine their starting spot for race #1 and the 2nd lap speed will determine their starting spot for race #2.
This will reduce pressure on the teams and drivers to have to prepare for two qualifying sessions – one for each 250-miler. The doubleheader weekend at Road America was especially taxing on the crews.
