It is more than just the double diffuser
Wide flat nose on Brawn GP car means something |
A reader asks, Once the other F1 teams introduce their double diffusers, will Brawn GP return to being backmarkers? Dave Donnelly.
Dear Dave, It's more than just adding a rear diffuser. The rear diffuser adds more rear downforce. However, that must be balanced with more front downforce. The Brawn GP team and Ross Brawn designed their new car with a wide flat looking nose. The air flowing over that wide nose generates a lot of downforce and that is why their car is quick – it has a lot of downforce and it is balanced for excellent handling. If the other teams are going to match the performance of the Brawn they are going to have to get rid of their pointy noses as well. Mark C.
