NASCAR put kibosh on Indy/NASCAR deal
According to AutoRacing1.com (AR1) sources, NASCAR President Mike Helton put a stop to the proposed $20 million prize to any driver that can win the Indy 500 and Charlotte 600 on the same day. We hear he threatened to pull the Brickyard 400 from Indy if IndyCar went ahead with the deal.
If true, it acknowledges the speculation that NASCAR views IndyCar as an enemy (they always have and could not wait to see CART IndyCar die) and will do everything to ensure that IndyCar does not get any positive PR from NASCAR drivers that may choose to try the double.
