David Brabham, teaching kids to win

David Brabham

Racers Who Care spokesracer, David Brabham, will share with troubled kids his personal Quick Tips on Winning in Life, at Los Angeles' Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services Center, on April 15, 2010. The young audience members will be psychologically and emotionally impaired children and teens.

One of the world’s leading sportscar racers, 2009 was a dream season for David in which he took outright victory in the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours and was crowned the American Le Mans Series LMP1 champion. Considered a legend of the ALMS, as the only driver in Series history to capture pole positions and wins in the GT1, GT2, LMP1 and LMP2 categories, Brabham competes for Highcroft Racing in the newly combined ALMS LMP class in 2010.

He will be in Southern California to compete in round two of the ALMS at Long Beach on April 16-17. Born in England, raised in Australia, and a long-time resident of Henley-on-Thames, England, David is the youngest son of Sir Jack Brabham, Formula One World Champion in 1959, 1960 and 1966: the first driver to win an F1 title in a car of his own construction (’66) and to be knighted for services to British motorsport. David’s brothers, Geoff and Gary Brabham, are successful racers in their own right.

David’s double 2009 Le Mans and ALMS titles sealed an important year for the entire Brabham family, as Sir Jack celebrated the 50th anniversary of his first F1 World title in 1959.

Racer Quick Tips presentations center on key universal truths RWC calls Quick Tips on Winning in Life, applicable to all children and teens regardless of age, cultural background, or life experience: find something to do in life that you really love, study, learn the art of teamwork, find a mentor, take the long view, be flexible with your dreams and goals, avoid the path of least resistance, and more.
