Scott Tucker gunning for 2nd title
It’s Petit Le Mans week, and Scott Tucker already has one championship to his credit on the year. This weekend at Road Atlanta may deliver the biggest of his career though. Level 5 Motorsports’ owner/driver enters Petit Le Mans powered by MAZDA 2 fresh off a second straight title at the SCCA National Runoffs. He won the Touring 1 national class title for the second straight year driving a Ferrari 430 Challenge at Road America.
He’ll saddle up for the last time this year in Level 5’s two ORECA FLM09 in the LMP Challenge class, gunning for a championship in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr¢n. Tucker is tied with Gunnar Jeannette of Green Earth Team Gunnar in the driver’s title race. Level 5 and Green Earth Team Gunnar are knotted in the team championship standings as well.
“It has been a great season for the whole Level 5 Motorsports organization, no question about it," Tucker said. “We’re incredibly focused on winning and have been able to earn some big wins this year. We’ve got one more race to go and everything is on the line. This is all you can ask for as a driver."
At the Road America Runoffs, Tucker began his championship race from the pole position. His broke his own race lap record, which was 0.2 seconds better than his qualifying time.
