Suspended crew chief returns
Shane Wilson, crew chief for the Busch Series point leader Kevin Harvick, will return to the track this weekend after serving a six-week suspension for violations found after qualifying at Daytona in late June.
Todd Berrier, Harvick's crew chief on the Nextel Cup side, and Pat Smith, crew chief for the part-time Richard Childress Racing No. 29 Busch Series car, had been directing the team's operation at the track.
"It was really tough not being at the track," Wilson said in a team news release. "Racing has been my whole life. I've been going to a race track and working on cars forever, so to be told 'You can't go' was really hard.
"All the guys on this U.S. Coast Guard team stepped up, and I am really proud of them. I really have to thank Todd Berrier and Pat Smith for stepping up and helping this team during my absences. They did a great job, and now I have some big shoes to fill."
