Heidfeld has no thoughts of retirement
“Regarding my age and my experience, I am in a very good position at the moment," he told the team’s official website.
During his time in the pinnacle of Motorsports, Nick has secured five podium finishes and one pole position and instead of thinking about retirement, Nick is still aiming for his maiden victory, and after that, who knows? Maybe he will stay around for as long as Michael did….
“If things go well I hope to be able to continue racing in F1 for another ten years, on top of the years that already lie behind me."
This year Nick will continue with the BMW powered outfit alongside new teammate, Robert Kubica, who made his very impressive debut at the Hungarian Grand Prix last year. Robert is young and ambitious and has motivated Nick even further. As far as the German racer is concerned, the internal competition between the two of them is a positive situation to be in.
“It’s better for me to compete against someone with a certain amount of speed, rather than against a slow driver," he explained. “When you’re up against a slow driver can’t compare anything, you won’t receive any tips or hints, you are always on your own."
The team will unveil the new challenger that Nick hopes will take him to even greater heights on the 16th of this month at the Valencia circuit in Spain.
