Robby Gordon wins 6th stage of Dakar

Now that the first 8 cars have arrived at the finishing line of this 6th special stage, American Robby Gordon has won his 3rd special stage victory on the Dakar, 17" ahead of Frenchman Jean-Louis Schlesser and 6’52 in front of South African Giniel de Villiers.

The Race Touareg continues Volkswagen’s monopoly at the head of the leader board after six of the Dakar Rally’s 15 stages: The Spaniard and his French co-driver Michel Périn lead the Dakar Rally for the fourth consecutive day.

On the extremely fast stage from Tan Tan in Morocco to Zouérat in Mauritania, at 817 kilometers also the longest of the rally, Sainz recorded the fourth fastest time behind the two Buggy drivers Robby Gordon (USA) and Jean-Louis Schlesser (France) and Volkswagen team mate Giniel de Villiers from South Africa.

Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz, currently second overall, reduced the leader’s gap by 25 seconds and now lie 3:11 minutes behind Sainz. Holding third is the Portuguese-German duo Carlos Sousa/Andreas Schulz in the Lagos Team Volkswagen Race Touareg, who set the sixth fastest stage time.
