Christian Bakkerud signs with David Price

Dane Christian Bakkerud has signed with DPR for the 2007 GP2 Series, and his team mate is expected to be announced shortly.

The 22-year-old tested for the team in Valencia at the end of November, and is delighted to make the move into the premier single-seater series below Formula One.

In 2006 Bakkerud contested the British Formula 3 Championship, finishing the season in a well-earned 6th place overall thanks to a win and a number of podium finishes in the second half of the season.

DPR will be taking up its place on the 2007 GP2 grid without the support of Carlin Motorsport after the planned merger of the two teams fell through. David Price said, .I’m very pleased that Christian will be with us, especially as he’s benefited from a GP2 test and has already visited some of the Grand Prix tracks thanks to the British F3 Championship. We’re working flat out now to get the cars prepared and the second driver finalized so we can get fully back up to speed before the official testing starts.
