Hakkinen renews DTM contract for 2007

Former Formula One world champion Mika Hakkinen of Finland has renewed his German Touring Car (DTM) series deal with Mercedes for the 2007 season, the carmaker said on Friday. Hakkinen won the F1 title for McLaren-Mercedes in 1998 and 1999. He quit F1 in 2001 and joined the DTM in 2005, winning one race in his debut season and getting three podium finishes in 2006. "I am convinced that the fans will see the best Mika ever in 2007," said Mercedes motorsport supremo Norbert Haug.
