Super Aguri stake claim on van der Garde
02/02/07 (GMM) Super Aguri issued a statement on Friday staking its claim on Dutch test rookie Giedo van der Garde.
The 22-year-old signed for the Japanese squad in December, but on Thursday was announced in a similar and conflicting role for the Dutch squad Spyker.
"(Super Aguri) has a valid contract with Giedo van der Garde to drive for the team in the position of Friday and Test Driver for the 2007 FIA formula one world championship," the statement issued from Leafield (UK) read.
Super Aguri said the contract was lodged with the Contracts Recognition Board on 23 January.
The last time the CRB was called into action for a contract dispute was in 2004, when Williams and BAR-Honda fought over the services of Jenson Button.
Super Aguri's chief financial officer Wayne Humphreys told Reuters: "We were surprised by the Spyker press release and (van der Garde) is still under contract. That's very clear."
