Toyota GP of Long Beach live on NBC
The headline event of the weekend, the Champ Car World Series, will air live nationally on NBC at 1:00 p.m. (PT) on Sunday, April 15. It will be the final appearance of Champ Car racing’s premier event on NBC, following the announcement of a new long-term television partnership between ABC/ESPN and the Champ Car World Series.
“Not only do we have a great lineup of on-track racing action for our fans, but this is also the most extensive television coverage of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach in our history," said Jim Michaelian, president and CEO of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach. “Each program will highlight the intense competition and showcase the beautiful assets the city of Long Beach has to offer."
The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach TV schedule also includes Saturday’s featured event: the local debut of the American Le Mans Series. The 100-minute race will air tape-delayed on SPEED Channel from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (PT) on Saturday, April 14.
Saturday’s 31st Annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race pits stars of film, television and sports against top professional drivers. The 10-lap Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race will air tape-delayed on SPEED Channel, date and time to be announced.
The EZ Lube Team Drift Challenge, the first-ever team drifting competition in the U.S., will run all three days at the Grand Prix. For the first time, the Formula Drift series will be telecast on ESPN2; date and time for the one-hour Long Beach show will be announced at a later date.
The Cooper Tires Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda runs on the streets of Long Beach Sunday morning, April 15, and will air tape-delayed on ESPN2 the following weekend. Exact time and date will be announced at a later date.
The SCCA SPEED GT Championship event, Sunday’s final race of the day at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, will air in a one-hour show on SPEED Channel, time and date to be announced.
