NASCAR eliminates Mexico chicane
NASCAR has opted not to use the chicane in the first turn for this year's Telcel-Motorola Mexico 200 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez course in Mexico City. The Busch Series cars will have different gearing, which will allow NASCAR to make the change as the cars won't be as fast going down the main straightaway and can go into turn 1 at a safe speed, Busch Series Director Joe Balash said Friday. Balash said it won't significantly change the distance. "We have changed the gearing in the cars a little bit to take a little bit of RPM out down the main straightaway," Balash said. "We looked at it from a competition standpoint and getting comfortable with the facility."
