Hyundai Chairman to appeal sentence

The chairman of South Korea's Hyundai Motor filed an appeal against last week's three-year jail sentence, a company official at the world's No.6 automaker said on Monday. "Lawyers of the chairman field an appeal today as planned," a Hyundai official said by telephone. A South Korean court last Monday sentenced Chung Mong-koo to jail, saying it found him guilty of embezzlement and breach of trust. He was widely expected to receive a suspended sentence.
