Todt would welcome Schu in Ferrari top job

(GMM) Jean Todt says he would like to see retired seven time world champion Michael Schumacher lead the Ferrari team in the future.

"I would be happy if Michael came to me and said 'being a team boss is the next step in my career'," Frenchman Todt, who will soon relinquish his role as team principal after becoming Ferrari CEO, said in an interview to appear on Wednesday in the German specialist magazine Auto Motor und Sport.

Schumacher, 38, already occupies an unspecified non-driving role at the Maranello based team amid speculation that he is being groomed for Todt's job.

Todt, however, doubts that German Schumacher will be keen to step up his role any time soon.

"He wanted to take his life in a different direction," Todt said, "do other things and have more time for himself.

"I don't think he wants to expose himself to all that pressure yet again. If he did, he could have continued to race."
