Porsche rules out LeMans effort until rules changed
Porsche's motorsport director Harmut Kristen says his company will not contest the 24 Hours of LeMans race until there is better parity between gasoline and diesel powered cars. The Porsche LMP2 cars are of course gasoline powered while the LMP1 cars of Audi and Peugeot are diesel.
"This isn't necessarily our next step, and we aren't even evaluating it," he was quoted as saying by Italian racing magazine Autosprint.
"That's also because we don't agree with the current ACO-Le Mans regulations: in LMP1 there absolutely isn't equivalence between petrol and diesel engines, the latter being undoubtedly advantaged.
"This is the most important parameter that, in our opinion, doesn't work."
