Auto racer Hines hurt in bike wreck
One of Indiana’s most successful race car drivers is in Methodist Hospital today following a serious dirt bike accident. Tracy Hines, a two-time U.S. Auto Club series champion, suffered multiple leg and hip fractures after crashing into a fence near his New Castle-area home. Details of the accident or the extent of Hines’ injuries have not been released. Hines drives A.J. Foyt’s Silver Crown car and is the series’ points leader after two races. He won the March 23 race at Homestead, Fla., and was scheduled to race Saturday at Iowa Speedway.
