Video: Leaving kids in car dangerous

Leaving a child inside a car, even for a short period of time, may often prove fatal. In the past nine years, an estimated 320 children have died due to heatstroke after being trapped or intentionally left inside a vehicle. While the temperature outside may not be unbearably hot, the temperature inside a sealed car can reach levels between 45 to 50 degrees higher. Tests from GM and Safe Kids Worldwide indicate the temperatures inside a car with the windows rolled up can increase by 19 to 20 degrees in 10 minutes. These rising temperatures compiled with the fact that a child’s core body temperature increases at rates three to five times faster than adults create deadly combinations, safety experts warn.
