van Lagen ends relationship with Comtec

Jaap van Lagen has confirmed that he has ended his contract with Comtec Racing.

“I am heavily disappointed," van Lagen told his personal website. “I was signed as the lead driver but when I signed the contract most of the important people had moved away from the team. This is the only team in the World Series where I would have focused myself on, because Comtec can win races.

“The preparations for the season went badly. I had many problems in the car, which had been just solved at the Nürburgring and Barcelona. At Monza I had a tire problem, something that Michelin have confirmed later.

“However, I thought it was particularly bad for Jonathan Lewis accuse me in the press afterwards for my performance. I could have remained for the races at the Nürburgring and Monaco but not with the chemistry as it is at the moment.

“I had hoped for a lot this season, but it has abruptly ended. The season has just started and the top teams are at present full. Undoubtedly spots will be released, so that I can possibly come back this season."
