Duno to skip Milwaukee race

Milka Duno, the IndyCar Series' latest woman racer, crashed out of Sunday's 91st Indianapolis 500 and was credited with a 31st-place finish. The series will continue Sunday at The Milwaukee Mile, site of the ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt 225, without the popular Venezuelan. [Editor's Note: Milwaukee is not a 100% throttle track and requires that a driver actually be able to drive well.]

"The next race for me, it is Texas," said Duno, referring to the Bombardier Learjet 550 night event in Fort Worth on June 9.

Duno completed 65 laps around the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval before crashing into the SAFER Barrier in Turn 1.

"There really was no mistake," said Duno, driver of the No. 23 Hugo Chavez CITGO Racing Dallara/Honda fielded by SAMAX Motorsport. "I was just behind two cars and they slowed down too much. My car lost all the aerodynamic [grip] in front and there was no way to control the car." [Editor's Note: No mistake? Really? It was clear that she overreacted to the cars in front of her and made a rookie mistake.]

This year's rookie class hardly distinguished itself. Phil Giebler, driver of the No. 31 Ethos Fuel Reformulator Panoz/Honda, was credited with completing 106 laps after crashing out in Turn 1. Giebler finished 29th. In other words only two rookies competed and they both crashed out. Star-Telegram
