Fisichella rejects retirement talk

(GMM) Giancarlo Fisichella has rejected suggestions that his newly launched motor racing school could be a signal that he is about to retire from F1.

The Renault driver announced this week that, along with his manager Enrico Zanarini, the Fisichella Motor Sport Academy at Vallelunga would guide students into the world of motor sport and also house his GP2 team.

Housed in the Fisichella Motor Sport Technopole building, the facility also features a training centre, a museum, shops and a restaurant.

Fisichella is 34 and his race seat at Renault is being keenly eyed by the French squad's current test driver Nelson Piquet Jr.

But, asked about the academy, he insisted in Montreal on Thursday: "It doesn't mean anything about my retirement. I still want to go ahead in F1 for many years."

The Canadian grand prix is Fisichella's 184th, and he has won three races.

He added: "I love this sport and I like to be involved. One day when I stop racing in F1, to still be in motor racing — I am happy about that."
