Said gets Wood Brothers in top 35

Boris Said’s last-minute addition to Sunday’s field proved a big plus for the Wood Brothers. When qualifying was canceled by rain and Said did not make the race, but the Wood Brothers' scheduled driver for the weekend, Bill Elliott, elected to give up his seat in the No. 21 Ford to Said, believing Said had a better chance for a good finish.

Said had to start the race from the rear of the field because of the driver change, but he finished a respectable 14th – good enough to lock the No. 21 into the top 35 in car owner points and guarantee it a spot in next weekend’s race at Michigan.

The No. 21 is now 37 points ahead of Bill Davis Racing’s No. 22 Toyota, which fell to 36th.

“Mission accomplished. At the end, I think we could’ve gotten a top-10 but where the No. 22 was, I had to really think about it," Said said. “I kind of gave up and let (Kurt Busch) by and then made a little mistake and (Ryan Newman) got by." ThatsRacin.com
