PSV fans to see unveiling tomorrow
The red and white car will be unveiled in spectacular fashion outside of the club’s home ground – descending from high above the stadium to be presented to the devoted Dutch fans.
The car will later be pushed onto the centre of the pitch where the entire PSV 2007/08 playing squad will get to see their club’s colors adorning the 750 horsepower, V-12 powered single seater.
The PSV event is the second major public event for Superleague Formula. Last month, German fans of Borussia Dortmund got to see their club’s car at Signal Iduna Park – Germany’s largest football stadium.
PSV Eindhoven was one of the original four clubs announced at the launch of the new championship that will capture the passion of international football with the excitement of world-class motorsport.
The Dutch club will be joined by Italian Champions League winners, AC Milan; Portugal champions, FC Porto; Greek champions, Olympiacos; Belgium champions, RSC Anderlecht; Borussia Dortmund and the recently announced Brazilian greats, Flamengo.
By the time the first race kicks off in August 2008, a total of more than 20 top class clubs from throughout the world will be represented on the grid.
Tomorrow’s unveiling will take place at PSV Eindhoven’s annual open day, an event expected to attract more than 25,000 spectators.
PSV Eindhoven General Manager Jan Reker believes the unveiling of the club’s Superleague Formula entry will provide a unique attraction for the club’s fans.
“Since we announced our participation in Superleague Formula, we have received a lot of positive response from our fans," Reker said.
“Everybody wants to know who is going to run our team and who will drive the car. That news will come in the near future, but we want to ensure our fans get to see a very spectacular unveiling tomorrow.
“Our open day is a great family event – adding Superleague Formula to our open day is an added bonus for supporters of PSV Eindhoven."
PSV Eindhoven’s open day kicks off at 2.00pm tomorrow. Apart from the Superleague Formula unveiling, the day will also include family attractions, live DJ, stadium tours and the official presentation of the 2007/08 playing squad.
“We are delighted to introduce the PSV fans to the Superleague Formula championship. Tomorrow’s event will certainly be spectacular and we are certain the Dutch fans are going to be very excited about our championship," Superleague Formula CEO and President, Alex Andreu said.
“When we introduced the concept of Superleague Formula to PSV, they were clearly recognized the opportunities our championship provides in expanding their brand.
“We believe the Netherlands market will be a key component of our fan base."
