GAINSCO Drivers Receive International Recognition
Gurney and Fogarty have taken the sports car scene by storm this year, setting records for the most poles as well as the most victories in a single season. 1. Scott Dixon
No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, IndyCar Series
With his series-leading fourth triumph of the season Sunday at Infineon Raceway, Dixon moved into the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series point lead. He takes a four-point lead into this Sunday’s race on the street course at Detroit’s Belle Isle.

2. Tony Stewart
No. 20, Home Depot Chevrolet, Nextel Cup
Stewart continued his strong second half of the season with a fourth-place finish at Bristol, Tenn., moving to second in the standings.
3. Donny Schatz
No. 15 J&J Sprint Car, World of Outlaws
Schatz had an uncharacteristic week, posting no top-five finishes in two events. However, he did finish 10th and sixth.
4. Lewis Hamilton
No. 2 McLaren Mercedes, Formula One
Hamilton retained the World Driving Championship point lead, but finished fifth Sunday in Istanbul.
5. Jon Fogarty/Alex Gurney
No. 99 Gainsco Pontiac, Grand Am Series
Gurney pulled off a thrilling late-race pass to give the duo its seventh victory of the season, which propelled them into the point lead.
6. John Force
Castrol Ford, NHRA Funny Car
After finishing the rain-delayed Reading, Pa., event as the runner-up, Force starts The Countdown third in the standings.
7. Sebastien Bourdais
No. 1 McDonald’s Panoz, Champ Car World Series
Bourdais extended his point lead in the Champ Car World Series with his sixth victory of the season.
8. Jeff Gordon
No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet, NASCAR Nextel Cup Series
Gordon still holds a commanding point lead, but finished outside the top 10 for the third-straight race.
9. Carl Edwards
No. 99 Office Depot Ford, No. 60 Ford, NASCAR Busch and Cup
Edwards earned his second Cup Series victory of the year Saturday at Bristol and still holds a large lead in the Busch Series standings.
10. Dario Franchitti
No. 27 Canadian Club Honda, IndyCar Series
A late-race collision with teammate Marco Andretti kept Franchitti from victory and cost him his point lead. He finished third Sunday.
Honorable Mention
Porsche drivers Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas combined for their fifth American Le Mans Series triumph of the season Sunday at Mosport Raceway in Ontario.
Last Week
With many of the other front-runners struggling, Scott Dixon used his fourth IndyCar Series victory of the ’07 to jump to the top of the Power Rankings. Previous leader Donny Schatz fell to fourth.
