Young Brit to test Champ Car
Eric Bachelart, Conquest Racing Team Owner, and the rest of the team are constantly looking for opportunities to develop future talent for the Champ Car World Series and felt that with the six week break in the season schedule, this was an ideal time to test the Formula V6 Asia competitor.
"I am very happy to be joining Conquest Racing for the test in Sebring," said Winslow. “They are an outstanding group of guys and a great team. This is a huge opportunity for me as I plan a career in Champ Car, I must thank Conquest very much for their invitation."
James began his racing career in karting before making his way to single seat racing, starting with British ARP F3. After becoming the British ARP F3 champion, he moved on to the expanding Asian F3 championships. He successfully scored multiple podium finishes and won the 2006 Asian F3 series.
In 2007, Winslow has competed in multiple Australian F3 championship races and is currently the leader of the 2007 Formula V6 Asia Championship. James is now setting his sights on the Champ Car World Series with his first testing session at Sebring International Raceway. Conquest Racing PR
09/21/07 James Winslow will test with the Champ Car World Series team Conquest Racing at Sebring Monday and Tuesday [24-25 September] .
The Briton has been a race winner in both the Australian F3 and Formula V6 Asia championships this season, and currently leads the V6 series after a double victory at Chengdu last weekend.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for me," Winslow said, “Champ Car is obviously a step up from what I have been doing over the last couple of seasons but, despite my success in both F3 and V6, I didn't expect to get a chance to try the DP01 quite so soon.
“Naturally, I am extremely grateful to Mr. Bachelart for giving me the chance to run at Sebring, and I hope to do a good job for him. After a few years in F3, I am looking to progress to something different next season, so it will be interesting to see what doors this test may open.
“Conquest may not be the most well-known team in Champ Car, but Mr. Bachelart runs a tight ship and Jan Heylen showed with his second place at Assen just what the team can achieve. I am looking forward to joining them at Sebring."
“I know Sebring is famous for its bumps and for being a quick lap," he said, “but I'm a fast learner and I hope to prove that next week."
