Martinez visits Forsythe

Mexican driver David Martinez traveled to Indianapolis to visit Forsythe Championship Racing’s race shop this week. The primary reason for the trip was to create a custom fit seat and adjust the different controls, dials and pedals in the new DP01 chassis which Martinez will be testing for the first time Monday and Tuesday at the historic Sebring International Raceway. The 25 year old driver also took the chance to sit down with his engineer, Brandon Fry, and discuss the plans and strategies that they will develop during the Sebring test and the two races which he will take part off, Surfers Paradise and Mexico City.

The Champ Car Atlantic graduate’s previous experience in a Champ Car came last year when he qualified and finished ninth in his Series debut at Mexico City also with the Forsythe Team after having only one test day to get used to the 750 horsepower machines.

“I am very motivated, I got to visit the team again after one year and felt a very warm and friendly welcome by everybody. We made a seat which only took a couple of hours and right I way I felt very comfortable inside the car. I’m trying to spend the most amount of time possible with the team so I can be relaxed and get up to speed right away in Sebring.

I had a chance to meet my engineer, Brandon Fry, and right away I could tell that we have great chemistry just like I had last year with Alex Timmermans. Really overall there is a great atmosphere within the team, I think everybody was very happy with the results that we had last year in Mexico and we are all motivated to do even better this year."
