Sergio returns for Trident
Sergio Hernandez
"Having the chance to get back behind the wheel of an open-wheel car in the GP2 Series is a dream coming true, as my main goal has always been to reach Formula 1 and there’s no better way to do it than having a try in GP2. I’ll also have the chance to be back on my home track, at Valencia. I know it very well and, in addition, I’ll be surrounded by the most important people in my racing career. I understand it won’t be easy, because some time has passed since my last GP2 outing, and my rivals will have a full year of racing behind their shoulders. I’m glad to be partnering Trident Racing, that’s definitely one of the best GP2 teams around. I also know that this weekend will be crucial for the future of my career".
Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Team Principal
"In the two years he spent in the GP2 Series, I always known and appreciated Hernandez for being an highly professional driver, very fast but also very nice and positive in human relationships. It seemed a natural choice for me to rely on him for his home race at Valencia; I’m sure he’ll be able to compensate the long absence with track knowledge. Maybe it’ll be complicated to drive straight to a top-position but, as we shown after the unfortunate injury occurred to Pastor Maldonado, Trident Racing always provide drivers with the best possible technical material, to let them exploit their full potential. We’re entering this race with Sergio and Kohei in the same way we would have done it with a chance of winning the championship. We want to repay the trust that Sergio and his sponsors put on us, and end a complicate season in a positive way. I hope that all the fans of Sergio will reach us on-track, supporting the `Comunitat Valenciana` car".
