Publisher confirms journalist to join McLaren

(GMM) A British magazine publishing company has confirmed that high profile formula one journalist Matt Bishop has accepted an offer to work for McLaren.

It was reported on Wednesday that 44-year-old Bishop, editor of the popular magazine F1 Racing, will from 2008 take up the role as the Woking based team's Group Head of Communications and PR.

A spokesman for the magazine's publisher, for whom Bishop has worked since 1996, confirmed that Bishop has decided to leave Haymarket.

"After 11 years leading F1 Racing magazine, Matt Bishop has accepted a unique opportunity within one of formula one's outstanding teams," said publishing director Peter Higham.

He added: "In Matt, McLaren is gaining a very skilled communicator and we wish him well with the new challenges that lie ahead."
