Grand Prix Foundation of Long Beach news
The Grand Prix Foundation annually raises the money through its “Charity Days" events during the week of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Since its inception in 1991, the Foundation has contributed over $2 million to organizations representing a cross-section of the city’s charitable and civic community. Thanks to low administrative costs, 90 cents of each dollar go directly to the organizations selected by the Foundation’s 11-member Board of Directors.
"The Grand Prix Foundation of Long Beach is proud to play a significant role in bettering the quality of life for so many people in our area through these donations," said Rick DuRee, Foundation President. "It is proof that the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is, and always has been, so much more than just the nation's premier street race. It and the Foundation are, indeed, important parts of the fabric of the Long Beach community."
Founded in January, 1991 as a 501 ( c ) (3) public-supported organization, the Foundation raises its funds through a Charity Golf Tournament, black-tie gala and a variety of other events held in conjunction with the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, which annually attracts more than 180,000 race fans on event weekend.
