Surfers future to be decided

The Queensland Government wants to secure the Champ Car Lexmark Indy race until 2011 when Champ Car bosses arrive next week for the annual Surfers Paradise motorsport event.

The contract for the Surfers Paradise race expires after next year's event and Indy bosses are expected to finalize a new deal with the Champ Car series boss Kevin Kalkhoven during the upcoming Indy.

The State Government pumps $12 million a year into the Indy, which they say adds an extra $60 million to the Queensland economy.
