Renault unmoved by Alonso reports
Germany's Bild newspaper claimed on Thursday that the Spaniard has now signed a letter of intent to rejoin the French squad next January for three years until 2010.
The news followed reports that Toyota was prepared to spend in excess of a record $50m per year to secure the reigning double world champion.
Finnish tabloid Ilta-Sanomat added to the rampant rumors on Friday with a report that Alonso's preliminary three-year deal is actually with Ferrari, starting in 2009.
In a short statement, Renault would not confirm or deny its interest in Alonso, who won back to back drivers' titles with Enstone built cars in 2005 and 2006.
"The team will not comment on the speculation that has appeared in the media," the French squad said.
"We will announce our drivers for next season when we are ready to do so."
