Kanaan looking to start season as he started

“It makes me proud of myself that you’re able to switch and do different things," says Andretti Green Racing’s Tony Kanaan. Those “different things" he talks about is a transition to the American Le Mans Series with Acura’s first-year sports car program.

Kanaan’s Series debut was an unqualified success with a historic LMP2 class win for AGR at Sebring. The discipline of sports car racing was a new deal for Kanaan, the 2004 IndyCar Series champion.

The Brazilian star spoke on the differences between sports car and open-wheel racing to SPEEDtv.com’s Marshall Pruett. Interview

“The differences are big. The cars are totally different," he said. “Do I want paddle-shifting in an Indy car? For sure! And I’m used to 10 buttons on the steering wheel in an Indy car, and I have more than 50 on the Acura. I have a whole book to look through."

Kanaan will look to end the season the same way he started it – with a victory. He’ll drive the AGR Acura with Bryan Herta in the Monterey Sports Car Championships at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
