NASCAR TV ratings continue to plummet

UPDATE The final TV rating for last Sunday's NASCAR Nextel Cup: Pep Boys Auto 500 on ABC was a 4.0, down 17% from last year's 4.8 final on NBC.

10/29/07 The overnight TV rating for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Pep Boys Auto 500 on ABC Sunday was a 3.5, down 17% from last year's overnight of 4.2/8 Share on NBC. The final last year was a 4.8/10 Share, so it will be interesting to see what this year's final will come in as. NBC wisely opted not to bid on the contract this time around after losing their shirt on the last contract. We can only imagine how much money ABC is losing given the even lower TV ratings coupled with all the money they are spending promoting NASCAR on all their various platforms. It must really sting the bean counters at ABC/ESPN.
