Mexico City Saturday News Tidbits

The attendance Saturday in Mexico City was fairly decent, far better than the Saturday NASCAR crowd in March…….With this being Sebastien Bourdais' final Champ Car race arch nemesis Paul Tracy and Champ Car's Director of Competition, Tony Cotman, made a nice going away presentation to him at today's drivers meeting. Bourdais was pleasantly surprised and quite moved, having to pause to regain his composure as his voice began to crack. In the cutthroat world of F1 where Bourdais is off to he won't find that kind of respect and camaraderie……The Champ Car merchandise trailer was slammed in the afternoon with Mexican fans 5 to 10 deep buying up various items…..The weather forecast for race day is good with temperatures around 70 F and mostly sunny skies…..With bands playing and corporate guests smiling, the Mexican promoters can teach some of the American road course promoters a thing or two about entertaining the fans.
