In the world of karting, Lake Speed is a legend. While many American NASCAR fans are aware of his successful 19-year career in the top level Cup series, his record in karting is still talked about with reverence in the American karting community. Lake Speed remains the only American to ever win the World Karting Championship in 1978. This achievement places him in a very small fraternity of motorsports that many drivers of great fame were never able to achieve. Mr. Speed will be out to show the young guns that he still has what made him world champion in karting.

“Motorama Kart Parts – Birel has certainly brought a tremendous lineup to this year’s event," said Stars of Karting Series President Paul Zalud. “The team’s diversity will highlight the fact that karting is a great sport for anyone to compete. Racing is a sport of great personalities and stories, this team is a great example of the melting pot that our event creates."
