Asmer, Villa, to test BMW-Sauber at Jerez

(GMM) Young hopefuls Marko Asmer and Javier Villa will test for BMW-Sauber at Jerez next week, the German team announced on Saturday.

Asmer, a 23-year-old Estonian, and Spanish 20-year-old Villa, are scheduled to make their first appearance on Tuesday, when they will share a F1.07.

Asmer will then reappear for a full day's testing on Friday, BMW-Sauber added.

The Hinwil based team is in the market for a primary test and reserve driver for 2008, after Timo Glock signed a multi-season contract to race with Toyota next year and beyond.

Villa won three GP2 sprint races this year, while Asmer – who made his F1 test debut in a Williams as a teenager in 2003 – is the new British F3 champion.
