Champ Car smokes IndyCar

Bridgestone held a one-day tire test at Homestead, Fla. last Tuesday. The PKV team from Champ Car shared the track with the Indy Racing League's Andretti-Green stable for a Bridgestone/Firestone test.

Oriol Servia and AGR teammates Marco Andretti and Danica Patrick ran together on the 2.3-mile, 11-turn road course inside Homestead-Miami Speedway.

SPEEDTV.com reports that no official times were released but witnesses said Servia's Panoz/Cosworth was about three seconds a lap quicker than AGR's Dallara/Honda, mainly because of the long straightaway. SPEEDTV.com

AutoRacing1.com sources say the difference was 3.2 seconds, with the Champ Car smoking the IndyCar.

Three theories we can think of why they shared the same track:
1. Bridgestone wants to save money by making one tire for both series.
2. They wanted to compare cars and tires under the same conditions to see if they can possibly run together.
3. It was just 2 teams sharing the track for testing. A common occurrence.
