As the second race in the “Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup," the Monster Mile has been known to throw a high-banked wrench into the 10-race championship playoffs. The concrete, one-mile oval has become a track most of the “Chasers" worry about surviving, while fans in the stands have come to know Dover's Sept. race as one of the most entertaining and exciting races in the Chase.

In September 2007, Dover fans witnessed one of the most action-packed races of the season with Carl Edwards winning a war of attrition and his first NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Dover. Race fans also got to experience the crowning of the NASCAR Busch East Series champion at Dover, as 17-year-old Joey Logano became the youngest champion in series history. With Logano's move to the NASCAR Nationwide Series set for 2008, a new East Series champion will be celebrated at Dover following the Sept. 19, 2008 race.
