Johnson plans Nationwide Series races

Two-time Nextel Cup champion Jimmie Johnson will drive at least three races next season in what will be known as the Nationwide Series, Hendrick Motorsports confirmed on Wednesday.

Johnson will drive the No. 5 Chevrolet in both Nationwide races at Lowe's Motor Speedway and the Aug. 30 race at California Speedway. Johnson has driven three races annually in the series the past two seasons.

"We have races in this season a few times over the last few years and performed pretty well. It's a fun series to driver in," Johnson said. "I want to have fun, but I would like to get a few more victories there."
