Rolex series returning to VIR
The Daytona Prototype series is on the track’s calendar for the weekend of April 25, 26 & 27. “We certainly look forward every year to the return of the Rolex Sports Car Series," said track managing partner Connie Nyholm. “It’s a great race, with some really great competitors driving the most exciting sports cars we see every year. This year’s addition of the Formula SAE competition will make the weekend even more special."
Joining the Daytona Prototypes this year will be the SCCA SPEED Challenge Touring cars, plus the MOTO-ST motorcycles; Skip Barber National series and Star Mazda formula cars and new for VIR, the Formula SAE Collegiate Design Challenge. FSAE pits university students against each other in a competition to design and build the best formula race car. Attracting entries from across the continent, plus some international schools, FSAE is the training ground for race and street car engineers of the future.
The Grand-Am KONI Challenge cars make their VIR appearance October 3-5, with the cars racing in six-hour enduros to close out their season. They join the motorcycle stunt riders, drifting competition, track attack and all the other excitement of GT Live, returning the huge variety of that weekend’s entertainment for the entire family to the classic 3.27-mile road course.
Season passes to VIR’s major events are only $250, through Jan 4, 2008. These special passes include parking at all events, making a sweet deal even sweeter. After January 4 the season ticket price increases to $350.
