Valerio joins Durango for 2008 seasons

Brazilian Alberto Valerio will compete in the GP2 Series in 2008 for the Durango team. The twenty-two year old has been confirmed at the Italian squad for both the GP2 Series and GP2 Asia Series. Alberto has been a regular fixture at GP2 Series tests in recent years, running for Durango, Racing Engineering and Trident among others. After much work then, 2008 will finally see the talented youngster grab his GP2 chance.

Durango Team Principal Ivone Pinton was delighted with his new charge. “We were already close to signing Alberto in the 2006 season," he confirmed. “I’m very satisfied to welcome this driver, who we believe is ready to race in a demanding category like GP2 after his important experience in F3 in 2007. The kilometers of tests that we did together a month ago confirmed the driver’s ability to the team and made me look forward to 2008 with enthusiasm."

Alberto, too, is already eagerly looking forward to the first test of the Asia Series in January. “This is really a great opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to starting the next official competitive season." he said. "This is one of the moments that all racing drivers are working towards, being part of a winning organization like this, the right platform to get results and I am determined to do as much as I can, while doing the best possible job for the team. Durango has shown many times that it is an excellent place for a young driver to work and I intend to make the most of this opportunity. I would like to thank Mr. Pinton and all at Durango, for giving me the chance to prove myself at the maximum level and let me thanks my sponsors and my Family for supporting me again".
