PCM to Appear on Modern Marvels/Jr. Team Tests
Modern Marvels: The History Channel will feature Pacific Coast Motorsports on their hit television show “Modern Marvels," this Monday, January 14th at 8:00 pm/7:00 pm Central. Titled “Carbon," the episode was filmed in October at the team’s Oxnard, California headquarters. The episode will feature Alex Figge and his DP01 Champ Car, the PCM team and corporate partners. It will also feature crash footage from the 2006 incident at Road America, involving Champ Car driver Katherine Legge. The crash footage is used as an example of the safety characteristics of carbon fiber, one of the principal materials of the Champ Car’s composition.
Jr. Team Update: Pacific Coasts Motorsports’ Jr. Team, US RaceTronics Atlantic team completed their first test of the year yesterday. As confirmed by team owner Shane Seneviratne last fall, American standout Carl Skerlong will return to the Bakersfield-based squad to run for the championship in 2008. Skerlong completed two days of testing yesterday at Thunderhill Raceway. He was joined at the test by Frankie Muniz who is evaluating options for his 2008 sophomore season; it was his second test with US RaceTronics. Seneviratne discussed the test, “We had two great days at Thunderhill this week, both drivers completed right around 250 trouble-free miles over the two day test." He continued, “This test was a good opportunity for us to try the updates the Atlantic Series has implemented for 2008. We had a steady day of rain on Thursday, so both Carl and Frankie had the opportunity to complete nearly 125 miles in the rain. Obviously this was valuable because you cannot control Mother Nature and we will race in the rain this year. We were actually lucky to log test miles in those conditions and it was great practice for both drivers. We are looking forward to the Series first open test at Sebring next month." US RaceTronics will enter a two-car effort in the 2008 Champ Car Atlantic Championship. Skerlong is confirmed and the team hopes to announce their complete line-up in the coming weeks.
