Ferrari draws first blood
First day of head-to-head "official" testing this week for the F1 teams in 2008, working at the Jerez circuit, in southern Spain.
Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa working on the development of their new F2008, beat all others Monday, some running their 2008 models. Rain slightly hampered progress in the morning, as the track remained damp up to the lunch break. In the afternoon, the weather improved to the point that it was possible to run all the time on dry tires.
Testing ended at 17h00 with Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa third quickest in the new McLaren MP4-23, while Toro Rosso's Sebastian Vettel managed the fourth fastest time, ahead of the second McLaren of Heikki Kovalainen, Sebastien Bourdais in the other Toro Rosso. Nico Rosberg in the hybrid Williams FW29B was 7th.
Testing continues tomorrow.
