NHRA alters qualifying procedures
The National Hot Rod Association announced a change to its qualifying procedures for its national events. Only the top 12 speeds posted before the final qualifying day in each class can be used to make eliminations. For cars not in the top 12 at that point, only speeds posted on the final day will count toward qualifying. However, the 12 fastest cars before the final day are not locked in and can still improve their position on the ladder or be bumped from it.
