Swede who crashed rare Ferrari to be deported

A Swedish businessman who crashed a rare US$1.5 million (€1 million) Ferrari in Malibu in 2006 will be released from U.S. prison and deported to Sweden, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said Tuesday. Stefan Eriksson pleaded no contest to a drunken driving charge in connection with the Feb. 21, 2006, crash on the Pacific Coast Highway. He also pleaded no contest to embezzling two other fancy cars and illegally possessing a gun, and was sentenced to three years in prison. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Sofia Karlberg said Eriksson was due to be released and deported to Sweden "in the near future." She could not give a more specific timeframe.
