Mayfield gets a sponsor for the Daytona 500

Junior Johnson's Midnight Moon will be the primary sponsor on the #70 Chevy driven by Jeremy Mayfield in the 50th running of the Daytona 500. The Piedmont Distillers brand is named for company co-owner and 1960 Daytona 500 champion Junior Johnson, who will drive the pace car and lead the field prior to the start of the Daytona 500. "We are thrilled to partner with Haas CNC Racing for the 50th Daytona 500," Piedmont Distillers president Joe Michalek said. "This team has demonstrated its ability to succeed on the track by placing both its NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entries in the top 35 of last year's owner's points. In addition, Jeremy Mayfield is a proven driver with three top-five finishes among six top 10s at Daytona International Speedway."

"Being able to hook up with a legend like Junior Johnson and Midnight Moon for the 50th Daytona 500 is an honor," Mayfield said. "I know Scott (Riggs) and I both admire what Junior has done for this sport, and I hope to give Midnight Moon a great run during Speedweeks." Junior Johnson's Midnight Moon has been a tremendous success since its launch in May of 2007. The Carolina Moonshine brand is currently distributed in 12 states and will launch in Florida during Speedweeks. The Piedmont Distillers is the only legal spirits distillery in North Carolina. It produces two moonshines, Junior Johnson's Midnight Moon and Catdaddy Carolina Moonshine. Both brands are hand-crafted in small batches and then tripled distilled in a copper column still to deliver the smoothest, most premium moonshine available.
