Canyon Motorsports to compete in USTCC in 2008
Bob Scheer will again pilot the Canyon Motorsports MINI Cooper S, one of two MINI entrants confirmed for the 2008 season. The Canyon Motorsports MINI Cooper S underwent further race preparation over the winter season at the hands of Steve's Auto Clinic, master MINI tuner Hubie Fuh, and crew chief Dan Pacheco at DEP Race Prep, with a primary focus on improving engine output and reliability of the supercharged 1.6L powerplant. Handling and braking, both strong suits of the MINI ever since John Cooper first set his targets on winning the Monte Carlo Rally, have been optimized further with assistance from Monrovia, CA based Ireland Engineering Motorsports.
The US Touring Car Championship kicks off the 2008 season on March 8-9 at one of California's most technical road courses, Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, CA, a course that favors the strong braking and cornering prowess of the MINI Cooper S. With its balanced rulebook and varied road courses nationwide, the US Touring Car Championship is one of the most relevant sports car racing competitions in America.
