Kurt Busch draws Budweiser Shootout pole

Kurt Busch will start from the pole for the 30th annual Budweiser Shootout on Saturday at Daytona International Speedway. The 70-lap event featuring 18 pole winners from 2007 and five previous Shootout champions will be the first event for NASCAR's new generation car at DIS. Drivers drew for their starting positions Thursday night.

"It's going to be an interesting race," Busch said. "I'm glad to be part of it because you get to run with a tight group of competition. You get to learn with this new car. Who knows? I could be in 23rd after the first lap just because of how violent the draft could be with this car."

Starting next to Busch n the front row will be Dale Earnhardt Inc.'s Mark Martin.

The race will feature two segments, a 20-lap segment followed by an intermission and then a 50-lap segment, where teams will be required to do a pit stop since they can't go 50 laps on fuel. The race must end under green.
