Fisichella has high hopes for new car

Force India drivers

Giancarlo Fisichella believes Force India's delayed VJM01 will be worth the wait, even if it means some short-term pain.

While all around them other teams put the finishing touches on their new cars, Force India have been a tad more methodical in their approach, preferring to slowly iron out the kinks in the car design.

Even if the season is started in an old car, Fisichella is confident the VJM01 will propel the team forward on the grid.

"Since I first drove the car, we've made significant steps forward, especially in the car's set-up," Fisichella told the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.

"The Force India has potential and there will be new aerodynamics already at the Barcelona test.

"The budget is adequate, there's the structure, and the right people. The 2009 car is already under development.

"I want to grow with this team and to carry on racing in F1 for a few more years.

"(The objective is) to make the car gradually improve from the last rows, where we'll obviously be at the beginning."
