Nationwide teams swap points
Nine Nationwide Series teams in the top 30 in owners points from 2007 have swapped points with other teams in deals approved by NASCAR. Points from Robert Yates Racing’s No. 90, which finished 19th in the owners standings last year, were sold to the No. 7 Germain Racing team driven by Mike Wallace. The points from the No. 7 Phoenix Racing team were sold to the No. 4 of Jay Robinson Racing, the No. 25 of Team Rensi Motorsports were sold to the No. 64 Rusty Wallace Racing team, and the points from the No. 36 of McGill Motorsports were sold to the No. 24 Front Row Motorsports team for Eric McClure. That guarantees starting spots in the first five races of 2008 for Wallace, McClure and the No. 64 and 4 teams, both of which will use multiple drivers this season.
The other six teams swapped points among teammates: The No. 21 Richard Childress Racing team’s points will go to the No. 2 (driven full time by Clint Bowyer), with the No. 2’s points going to the No. 21. The No. 35 Team Rensi’s points will switch to the No. 25 to be driven by Bobby Hamilton Jr., Braun Racing’s No. 10 will be used by the team’s No. 32 and Chip Ganassi Racing’s No. 42 will be used by its No. 40 team. Some other teams have changed numbers for 2008: Michael Waltrip Racing’s No. 00 (from No. 44), Fitz Motorsports’ No. 36 (from No. 44) and MacDonald Motorsports’ No. 81 (from No. 72). Scenedaily.com
